Multifunction key on the side of the "thumb rest".
Possibility to switch between "step" and "free" rotation of the wheel.
Side thumb wheel with support for macros in browsers and other programs.
Simple and functional setup software.
Pleasant material.
USB type C for charging.
Support for multiple counters.
Included USB Bluetooth dongle for desktop pc without Bluetooth card/support on the base.
Shorter cable.
You have to get used to the shape.
The thumb wheel is too close, you have to bend your thumb a lot.
Press the middle wheel harder.

Great ergonomics - if you work with a pc daily - it's a must. I don't know about hand pain, tennis elbow, etc.
Configurability
Scrool wheel with different adjustment options, works better than the first generation
Cursor movement speed despite three large surfaces/monitors
Works with Mac OSx and Win 10
Price, 30% more expensive than the first generation
Materials don't look as good as the first MX Master
Time will tell how long it will last, the first generation had a battery that died after two years and recharged every other day and after three years the optical sensor stopped working and went into recycling

Example processing
Ideal weight
The perfect main wheel
Pleasant to the touch
Unusual grip compared to a "normal" mouse, which takes some getting used to
