This router is really unique. Very small package in which is packed a lot of interesting functionality, thanks to which the router can be used for many different applications. I haven't actually found any alternative product that offers this - and that's probably why it's quite expensive, despite not very powerful and rather outdated HW. The most interesting functionalities include: PoE passthrough (it can be powered via PoE, and at the same time power the devices behind it - for example the camera) and PowerLine (with the right power adapter it adds a third network interface that communicates over the power grid). One can invent a whole range of applications with it. Starting with a simple VPN box, or a minimalist emergency Wifi AP (e.g. for device management over Ethernet when your laptop doesn't have Ethernet? ). And that's the beginning, of course. PowerLine can then provide impromptu connections in old buildings. True, Wifi is weaker. But that's not why a reasonable person buys this box. After all, for this task the same manufacturer offers a cheaper solution for less than half the price. What is most disappointing is that this product has been on the market unchanged for over 10 years. While all other products have migrated to the ARM platform, this one has not. I'm a bit worried that the manufacturer will stop providing updates for the older MIPS platform in the near future. I fear even more that production of this unique box will be discontinued without replacement.
