(In my opinion) the best book for beginning programmers I know.
It is neither too complex nor too "long-winded" - you can learn the basics of programming in a very short time.
Pascal is a programming language especially suitable for teaching programming. And the author has mastered this art of explaining the basic principles of programming very well. The book is readable, cleverly conceived in two main parts (the basics and "Pascal to the core"), and goes into depth while still maintaining clarity of explanation.
(Again, in my opinion) Pascal is an excellent choice as a first programming language to start with if you intend to learn other languages later. It will allow you to focus on the problem at hand and not waste time thinking about how to write it syntactically correctly, and you will learn all the basic principles of programming so that the transition to any other programming language will be much easier.
It's not a thick book and yet it teaches you the basics of the language.
In addition to PDF, there are also formats for e-book readers - EPUB and MOBI (for Kindle readers).
The price of the e-book is more than the paper version, which you can buy in many stores for about half the price.
A minor shortcoming is that the book does not focus on pointers. This is a slightly more advanced topic, but many readers may consider it basic - which is why I point it out.
Pascal may not suit everyone. If you want to read a real "flamewar", find somewhere on the web a discussion on "Which programming language to learn first": -) It is of course a matter of personal preference, so please take my review as such. I would certainly hate to force on anyone the idea that starting programming with Pascal is the only right choice. Learn about programming languages, see sample source code and decide for yourself where to start. It depends on what just "fits" you better. Maybe read the discussions, but don't take them too seriously. Make a decision based on your own feeling.

simple and clear explanation of basic concepts and mechanisms
examples
it would like a bigger scope, missing e.g. pointers
the author uses the message too often: "it won't fit in this book", considering I was buying the ebook for 200kč I find this ridiculous
