The NAS label may be misleading to some, but it is a DAS (an offline version of NASU) that can be used either standalone or as an extension to an existing NAS. I have tested this stuff and for people looking for higher speed in RAID5 or RAID0 you will be disappointed. Unfortunately, this drive will only run at a maximum of about the base speed of the disk. If you want higher speed, you need to use the tr002 version, where I got to 1.6 times the base disk speed. Unfortunately, then you only have to use RAID0.

I solve NAS by myself, I just enjoy it, although nowadays there is probably no extra reason to do so. I was looking for something where I can have my disks stored safely. The box has a relatively reasonable power supply, works without failure and it is not necessary to use the internal hw RAID (which unfortunately cannot be changed later), it can be solved by a sw superstructure (Linux, where possible). Within the limits of what is available on the market.
High quality case for discs, with separate power supply and cooling.
The RAID type must be decided at the beginning, it cannot be changed afterwards (but it is not necessary to use RAID).

What the instructions don't tell you - see advantages/disadvantages
all 3.5 SATA drives can be connected ( (at least mine-not officially supported) - it just wanted a new formatting, otherwise it didn't show exact capacities and partitions
the inserted disks can be connected separately, i.e. to be displayed separately on the computer
RAID modes - I don't use it I can't judge
annoying led diodes (can be taped over with black tape)
every time the button is switched on/off, there is an outrageously loud and annoying beeping sound that will hopefully wake up all the neighbours
loud fan - can't be disconnected without beeping and red LED light
Does not switch off together with the device it is connected to - must be switched off separately
You cannot eject individual disks separately, you must eject the entire TR004
