From the receiver, you can get audio either directly via the cable into your camera or video camera, or digitally via the USB-C port, or analogously via the 3.5mm jack. You don’t have to use the receiver at all, though. You can connect the microphone to your PC via USB – it acts as an audio input/output device. You plug your headphones into the microphone socket, and the sound from the PC is fed through them. You can then use the microphone to adjust the balance between the conversation and other sounds – for example, in multiplayer games. It’s also suitable as a podcast microphone. It can, however, record instruments such as the piano without any problems. You can adjust the microphone’s sensitivity, and the LED indicator ensures that the sound is clear – at worst, the limiter kicks in, making it almost impossible for the sound to become distorted or to clip. Even a beginner can get to grips with this microphone. And if you don’t want it to go into the red, you can under-amplify it slightly, which isn’t a problem thanks to 24-bit resolution.
