Standa Pekárek has three wishes in his life: driving the Volga, driving for the Humor and Folk Entertainment editorial staff, and driving the Gothamist. The five-part miniseries Volga is an adaptation of Karel Hynia's novel of the same name, written in an extraordinary, bizarre and precisely eavesdropped language. It can be perceived as a peculiar history of Czechoslovak television with a number of unbelievable, though real, "stories from filming". At the same time, however, it is a portrait of its protagonist - a limited egocentric who excels in devising small tricks and tricks - how to steal petrol, fake mileage, cheat his wife, get rid of the competition. Logically, he also becomes a StB collaborator (with the code name Volha) who informs on all his colleagues and passengers without any remorse.
