Klíčovým parametrem je výška dítěte, která je individuální a věku nemusí vůbec odpovídat. Velikost bicyklu se udává v palcích a odpovídá výšce postavy a vzdálenosti od rozkroku k zemi (výška sedla od země). Jak je vidět, Olpran nabízí kola ve všech velikostních stupních od 12" do 24", a to včetně méně častých velikostí, 14" a 18". Kola Olpran tak můžete měnit s tím, jak vaše dítě roste, není nutné vybírat u jiného výrobce. Faktem ale zůstává, že se výměně cca každé tři až čtyři roky nevyhnete.

i Při nácviku jízdy na kole u nejmenších dětí je vhodné kolo osadit balančními (stabilizačními) kolečky. V pozdějších fázích, až mladý jezdec získá jistotu, je možné kolečka posunout o něco výše pro případ, kdyby byla potřeba, a nakonec je úplně odmontovat.

Je jasné, že s dětským kolem nebude nikdo zacházet jako v bavlnce. Musí proto vydržet prvotní pády i mnohá divoká odhození. Typickou reakcí na nebezpečí totiž u dětí není stisknout páčku, která kolo zabrzdí, ale zkusit pedály cuknout dozadu. A toho využívají brzdy s tzv. protipohybem. Dětská kola Olpran určená zejména pro malé cyklisty (cca do 6 let) oba systémy kombinují. Na zadním kole tak najdeme brzdy s protipohybem, na předním V brzdu. Kola pro větší děti jsou pak na obou kolech osazena V-brzdami.
