LP Record Blue Valentine is the third studio album by Tom Waits, released in 1978. The album was recorded at the Sound Factory in Hollywood, California, and was produced by Bones Howe. Waits wrote all the songs on the album except for "Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis", which was written by Howe. Blue Valentine was Waits' first album to be released on the Asylum Records label.
LP Record The seventies still shape Tom Waits's image to this day. Although the singer, songwriter, actor, and writer, born in 1949 in Pomona, California, has lived a relatively well-off, middle-class life for decades, he still holds a romantic reputation as a drifter, an eccentric, and a lover of alcohol. A blend of Charles Baudelaire and a young Charles Bukowski, he gives a grumpy voice to those in the gutter of high society. The starting point was Waits's debut album, "Closing Time", released in March 1973. The record was made the year before in just ten days with a studio band led by producer Jerry Yester.
LP Record To describe Curtis Harding as simply a man with soul would be far too shortsighted. Harding's voice conveys pain, pleasure, longing, tenderness, sadness and strength – a full spectrum of emotion. On his new album, "If Words Were Flowers", his voice now takes on an optimistic tone. "If Words Were Flowers" is Harding's first new music since 2018, following up on his critically acclaimed album "Face Your Fears". It features songs like "Hopeful", where Harding sings with gusto over a classic soul groove, complete with infectious horns, backing vocals, and modern psychedelic flourishes. Harding fuels his psychedelic sound with the essence of soul, but is not bound by it.
LP Record Bad As Me is the eighteenth studio album by Tom Waits, released on 25 October 2011 by Anti-. The album was produced by Waits, his wife Kathleen Brennan, and John Parish. It was Waits' first studio album since 2004's Real Gone. Bad As Me was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.
LP Record Tom Waits' 2018 album 'Bawlers' is a compilation of 26 lullabies, love songs and tear-jerkers. Waits' gravelly voice and unique musical style make this album a must-listen for any fan of his work or anyone who appreciates a good, sad song. The album features a range of tracks, from the upbeat and playful "Fumblin' with the Blues" to the heart-wrenching "I Can't Wait to Get Off Work (And See My Baby)". Waits' ability to tell a story through his music is on full display here, and the range of emotions he covers will keep you captivated from start to finish.
LP Record "Alenka" is a spectral, atmospheric chamber piece dedicated to Charles Dodgson's obsessive, forbidden love for Alice Liddell, for whom Alice in Wonderland was created. The piano, pump organ, cello, theremin and stroh violin are the main instruments in this melancholy and comical reflection on death, desire and the random cruelty of life. In the song of the same name, "Alice", Tom Waits adapts the classic blues-jazz ballad poetry from his early career, and in the song "Lost in the Harbour", a sea shanty set to pump organ and strings, he sings about the wall that separated East and West Germany.
