Někdy se rozlišení zapisuje počtem pixelů pro každou stranu fotografie (např. 3000 × 2000). Z toho lze ale snadno vypočítat rozlišení v megapixelech. Ve fotografii má rozlišení zásadní vliv především na kvalitu při tisku. Při vyšším rozlišení lze tisknout na větší formát, případně lze fotografii více přibližovat a tvořit tak kvalitnější výřezy snímků. S vyšším rozlišením však roste datová velikost fotografie, což zapříčiňuje i delší dobu ukládání na paměťovou kartu. Jaké rozlišení videa fotoapráty nejčastěji podporují? Full HD Full HD rozlišením je označován standard 1080p, konkrétně tedy 1920 × 1080 obrazových bodů. Full HD rozlišení je nejčastěji používáno u televizí, počítačových monitorů a notebooků. Vyznačuje se poměrem stran 16:9, což je ideální pro sledování filmů či hraní her. Ultra HD Ultra HD rozlišení 3840 × 2160 pixelů pomalu nahrazuje Full HD, oproti kterému obsahuje 4× více obrazových bodů. Je tedy mnohem detailnější a ostřejší. Odráží se to samozřejmě na velikosti výsledných souborů, do paměti se jich vejde méně, a jejich zápis může trvat delší dobu – v závislosti na rychlosti zápisu paměťové karty. 4K rozlišení 4K rozlišení 4096 × 2160 pixelů patří mezí nový standard pro rozlišení obrazu ve videu a počítačové grafice. Oproti Ultra HD nepatrně vyšší rozlišení je odlišné svým označením, kdy 4K (4096 pixelů) představuje horizontální označení, doposud se zápis odvozoval od označení vertikálního. Vyznačuje se černými pruhy nad a pod obrazem, nevykreslí totiž celou plochu širokoúhlého 16:9 obrazu, přestože obsahuje více pixelů než Ultra HD. Nevýhodou 4K rozlišení může být velká datová náročnost a s ní související postprodukce. Rozdíl mezi Ultra HD rozlišením 4K poznáte u televizí a při přehrávání na Youtube, kde je pro 4K rozlišení k dispozici větší datový tok. Se snímkovou frekvencí a hodnotami fps se setkáte také u videa. Ačkoliv princip je stejný, frekvence u videa obvykle bývá mnohem vyšší (alespoň 30 fps), jelikož například při nahrávání videa mají jednotlivé snímky rozlišení "pouze" 2 Mpx a obrazový procesor jich tak zvládá zpracovat mnohem více. Co ovlivňuje sekvenční snímání? Datová velikost pořizovaných snímků Při sekvenčním snímání je důležité rozmyslet si, do jakého formátu budu snímat. Kupříkladu formát RAW zaplní buffer fotoaparátu mnohem rychleji, než formát JPEG, což může ovlivnit i délku snímané sekvence. Velikost bufferu Buffer neboli vyrovnávací paměť fotoaparátu je využívána pro dočasné uložení snímků před zápisem na paměťovou kartu. Při sekvenčním snímání dokáže fotoaparát vytvářet snímky rychleji, než je stihne zapisovat na paměťovou kartu. Aby tedy nebyla ovlivněna rychlost sekvenčního snímání, jsou fotoaparáty vybaveny bufferem.
