Packaging materials
If the supplier uses filling material, it must not be reused material (newspapers, flyers, etc.). Consignments cannot be packaged in black foil, and there cannot be more than one shipping label on it. Only adhesive tape without advertising branding can be used, and packages should be without any logos or branding.
The packaging of consignments should be tailored to the size of the product being sent. For small products, consider using a paper envelope, for example, to avoid excessive waste.
Suppliers should not include an invoice or delivery note in the consignments; customers will receive the invoice directly from Alza.
If there is a breach of the proper packaging guidelines, suppliers will be fined for not complying with the set conditions.
Proper packaging of items for delivery to branches:
- Orders must be consolidated for delivery to branches (How to Consolidate) – meaning orders to the same collection point are sent in one package. Note: This does not apply to orders containing alcohol. For more information, see our alcohol packaging manual.
- Each item from the order must be labeled with Alza's BCX label (internal barcode).
- Each item from the order must be labeled with an EAN label.
- EAN and BCX labels must be applied directly to the product or the sales packaging if the product has one.
- If you use additional packaging materials (gift wrapping, bubble wrap, etc.), both codes must be attached to this packaging.
- Labels must not be covered with adhesive tape, be illegible, folded, smudged, too small, or too large (the suitable size is 3x7 cm).
- Labels must not overlap.
- If the items in an order are stackable, all BCX labels and the EAN code associated with the item must be affixed to the fixation packaging (e.g., the same bowl in one order).
- If an order contains multiple items, you must clearly mark each package in the order (for example, 1/3, 2/3, 3/3). The BCX code should be affixed to the first package.
- Consignments must be confirmed by the required collection time that you have set. Otherwise, the order cannot be processed on time at the branch.
- Items must not be placed in the sales packaging of another item (for example, a keychain in a Lego box).
- The packaging must be suitable for processing the parcel using an automatic sorting device and movement along a conveyor belt. This means that at least one side of the parcel must have a flat surface.
- Carriers do not accept bundled consignments.
- If BCX codes from multiple orders are affixed to a box that contains products from these orders, it is not possible to prevent all the products in the package from being issued to one customer. In this case, the sender of the order/supplier is responsible for the damage.
Common mistakes when delivering to branch stores:
-
BCX label is placed over the EAN.
-
The consignment must be unpacked so that the EAN code can be scanned.
-
The EAN code is missing.
-
The EAN code and the label are under the foil.
-
The labels are affixed to the shipping packaging, but not to the sales packaging.
- The consignment has not been confirmed by the required collection time.
