I don't know, is it because it's battery-powered? :-)
The manufacturer doesn't mention this anywhere, but it buzzes at roughly 10-second irregular intervals at various audible frequencies.
Unless you're deaf, it's absolutely mental indoors. You definitely can't sleep with it on.
So far, it's 3-0 to the martens here. They live in our roof insulation and after three days, they're still doing just fine.
I wouldn't take this for the house. Maybe outside for the car?

I had it installed in my car to deter martens.
Deters them brilliantly and I don't even know it's there.
Looks nice.

A complete waste of money. The mice walk right past it all the time and completely ignore any sounds.

It got rid of the mice in the cellar where we store our potatoes.
Finally, the mice aren't getting at the potatoes and we have some left for ourselves.

A pine marten was getting into our loft and eating the roof insulation. We followed their advice and put the repeller where the little pest was getting in. It worked and we haven't seen it since.

Small speaker, big performance
I like how it looks, it's an aesthetic piece as well.
I'm glad it doesn't have an LED and doesn't light up unnecessarily. The sound indicator is great.
