I didn't buy it for the smart home connection, but some of the automation and manual control features proved to be very limited. Next time I would choose a camera with at least RTSP protocol, so I could tap it (even if via homebridge). This way you are forced to purchase a cloud for external data backup. SMB protocol for backup to NAS is insufficient, FTP, ideally SFTP, would definitely be useful.
