After using it for a few days, I can say that I’m really pleasantly surprised. I bought the air-conditioning as a temporary solution whilst the flat was being renovated, but it exceeded my expectations. A room measuring approximately 18 m² with a west-facing window can be cooled with ease, even during one of the most intense heatwaves of recent years. With an outside temperature of around 35–36 °C, a perceived temperature of around 38 °C and direct afternoon sun shining through the window, it has no trouble maintaining a room temperature of approximately 22–24 °C. Just to give you an idea – I’m writing this review right in the middle of one of the most intense heatwaves of recent years. At the time of writing, a red alert for extreme temperatures has been issued in the area where I live. It’s 18:51, it’s about 35–36 °C outside, the perceived temperature is around 38 °C, and the sun is still shining directly through the window. Even so, the temperature in the room was 24.4 °C and the air conditioning still had some capacity to spare – the temperature was still falling slowly. In my view, it is precisely under such conditions that we can best see what an air-conditioning system is really capable of. Before buying it, I read some negative reviews and was worried that the air conditioning wouldn’t work as expected. Today, I’m glad I didn’t let them put me off. Yes, a single-hose portable air conditioner has its physical limitations and will not be as efficient as a split-system air conditioner, but it is certainly not true that it is merely a ‘cooling fan’. It works brilliantly for me. I think it’s important to have realistic expectations and to follow the recommended installation procedure. The results will always depend on the size of the room, the quality of the insulation, the orientation of the windows, the sealing of the vent and the overall heat load. Portable air conditioning has its advantages and its limitations. However, if someone expects the same performance and noise levels as from a split air-conditioning unit, they are comparing two different product categories. Similarly, I had no problems whatsoever with the drain hose or its fittings – once assembled correctly, everything holds firmly in place and I haven’t encountered any design flaws whilst using it. I’ve also read complaints about the noise. Yes, the portable air conditioner is audible because the compressor is right in the room. However, this is not a fault with this particular model, but rather a characteristic of the entire category of portable air conditioners. If you’re looking for a virtually silent solution, then a split air-conditioning system with an outdoor unit is the better choice. To me, the noise level is similar to that of a standard tower fan, and when I’m working with ANC headphones, I hardly notice it at all. A big plus is the Wi-Fi connection via the Tuya app. It only took a few minutes to set up, and I really appreciate the option of remote control and the ability to schedule automatic switch-on and switch-off. Overall, I’m absolutely delighted with the air conditioning. If you’re looking for a portable air conditioner for a room of a similar size and you know what to expect from this type of appliance, I can recommend it with a clear conscience.
