It could probably be cheaper due to the construction, but otherwise good. I have it for over a year, it still works fine, nothing has fallen or broken. He just needs to find a way to attach it to a specific car. The handle definitely does not reach the gear lever of a regular passenger car, but it does not affect the function of the planter. I do it by pointing the folded one at the middle of the windshield. Then I slowly start to extend the umbrella/shade until it clicks. I normally fit between the mirror and the windshield. Then I secure the sun visors for the driver and passenger and they hold beautifully. I will match the sides so that it fits right up to the edge of the glass and done. It takes about 10-15 seconds. It will always be warm in a car in the sun, but it is significantly better and the dashboard, steering wheel, belt clips, seats are not hot. The case is a normal piece of plastic, it' s not leather, even though this pattern is printed on it (not even leatherette, just thick plastic). All in all, the product fulfills its purpose well in my opinion
