Powerball

The Powerball is a hand gyroscope you can use to strengthen and rehabilitate you muscles or simply have fun. Inside the Powerball is a sphere rotating around its axis. With speeds up to 21,000 revolutions per minute, the force it exerts on your hand reaches 20 kg. To choose the right Powerball, first consider what you want to achieve.

I want a Powerball for rehab exercises

  • The Powerball can be used for treating carpal tunnel syndrome and other wrist problems caused by frequent computer work.

  • If you want rehab, the basic 250 Hz models will do just fine. Most of them offer the torque resistance of about 18 kg and are easier to spin, making the best suited for rehabilitation exercises.
  • You can choose a model without a speed meter or neon lighting; in this case, neither of them is needed.
  • High-speed 350 to 450 Hz models aren’t very suited for rehabilitation due to their higher weight. Nevertheless, you can sometimes find their lightweight versions (Light), which are much more appropriate.

I want a Powerball for strengthening exercises

  • Powerball can replace a set of dumbbells weighing from 0.5 kg to 20 kg. The maximum force it can provide is generally listed on every Powerball. The exact force you get depends on your spin technique and rotation speed.
  • Powerballs with speeds higher than the basic 250 Hz models can achieve a higher number of revolutions per minute, generating greater force they can exert on your hand.
  • Models with high maximum speeds tend to be heavier, made of metal, and are harder to use. These make good workout tools for advanced users.
  • Models with a speed meter can improve your performance by letting you keep track of your training.

I want a Powerball for fun and leisure

  • If you are a competitive spirit, choose one of the speed meter models. The in-built computer lets you compare your performance with friends or participate in the official Powerball league. The computer shows your current speed, highest speed achieved, and the average number of revolutions per a given time interval.
  • Models with LED backlight look really cool, but the internal LEDs reduce its speed by about 1-2%. The faster you spin the Powerball, the more strongly it lights up.
  • The more advanced users can choose from high-speed models that let you achieve a higher number of revolutions per minute.

Powerball

The Powerball is both a toy and an exercise tool. Spinning a powerball lets you relieve muscle and tendon tension and exercise your wrist after a hard day’s work at your computer. Additionally, it relaxes and strengthens shoulders, fingers, and arms. The Powerball is a recommended rehab tool for people who play a woodwind or string instrument, keyboardists, tennis and golf players, cyclists, and rock climbers. It is also suitable for virtually everybody else.

The Powerball is essentially a powerful gyroscope. It consists of a free-spinning rotor connected to a spherical inner and outer housing. The torque resistance rises the faster it spins. Some Powerballs also have an in-built computer that displays the current speed, highest rotational speed, and the average number of revolutions per a given time interval.
