Electric Light Orchestra: Eldorado, A Symphony by the Electric Light Orchestra
LP Record On ELO's fourth album, Lynne made an important innovation. "Eldorado" is the first album for which Jeff Lynne hired an orchestra; on previous albums, Lynne added strings by overdubbing. Lynne hired Louis Clark, a string arranger, and used a full orchestra for the band's recordings. This approach yielded immediate results in the form of the ambitious September 1974 album Eldorado, which boosted the band's worldwide popularity and perfected the approach that would bear fruit in the years to come.
