A new grill requires the right accessories and tools. There’s no shortage of those on the market, as well-known manufacturers such as Activa, Fieldmann, GrillBot, and others provide a wide range of quality products. If you want some tips on how to choose your grill accessories, read on.

Choosing a grill set

Trying to barbecue something with normal cooking utensils is not very practical, so you should probably look for a quality grill set. In most cases, a grill set includes accessories you need to prepare meals; some also include maintenance tools. Almost all grill sets come in a case, which makes their storage and transport considerably easier.

Things to keep in mind when choosing a grill set:

Material and appearance - tools are generally made of stainless steel and aluminium, occasionally combined with a wooden handle. Each material has its advantages.

  • Wood - the handle doesn’t overheat and is comfortable to hold; better safety overall
  • Stainless steel - this type is more durable and has a longer service life


Grill sets - contain all sorts of accessories and tools to help you prepare meals. Most sets contain commonly used utensils such as a spatula, sharp carving knife, and a three-tine fork.

Sets may also contain:

  • cleaning wire brush - ideal for grill maintenance
  • grill skewers - useful for making kebabs, grilled seafood, and vegetables
  • jagged barbecue tongs - for turning meat and vegetables when grilling
  • brush - used for basting 

Grill baskets

Baskets spare you from having to scrape burnt meat off the grill. A basket prevents food from adhering to the grill surface and allows you to turn and handle it as needed when grilling. Just put the basket on the grill and you’re all set.

Cleanliness and good maintenance are the key

Grilling is not just about food, but also about the subsequent maintenance. Here you have two options. You can use a  universal brush and special detergents and manually clean the whole grill, or you can opt for the modern technology in the form of a robotic grill cleaner that will do all the work for you.

  • Universal brush - compact, practical, and includes a steel spatula, brush, and sponge
  • Robotic grill cleaner - scrubs burnt residue more accurately, does the work for you
