LP Record John Peel invited the British punk institution into the studio several times in 1977 and 1978, which resulted in a recording contract with the GEM label. Their debut album reached number 21 in the UK charts and they also released a whole series of hit singles. Each one led to a television appearance on "Top Of The Pops". All the renowned music magazines wrote about the band. They were also the subject of Julien Temple's film documentary "Punk Can Take It". They performed at the Glastonbury festival and in 1979 played their first extensive tour of England. In 1980, they supported the Ramones at concerts in Europe and opened for The Police on a short US tour.
