Aside from a good SLR, solid and well thought-out studio lighting is necessary to get high-quality photos. Continuous lighting is not as powerful as studio strobes, but its light output is even and constant. A quality lighting kit coupled with some umbrellas is exactly what you need to take great portraits or object photography.
