Pumps

Pumps are used to pump water from wells, swimming pools, as well as rivers, reservoirs and the like. They are submersible in water, or a surface in the garden.

When selecting a pump, think about where you pump the water from.

  • Submersible - suitable for pumping water from a depth of 8 metres and more. They are used in conventional wells.
  • Surface - pumps water to a depth of 8 metres. They are used in bored wells.

What else to look for

The pollution degree of the pumped water

  • Drinking - both submersible and surface pumps are suitable for use with potable water.
  • Utility water - garden basins or rivers. Surface pumps as well as submersible pumps are also used for potable water. Getting grass or leaves inside the pump may prevent the filter from working properly however.
  • Contaminated - reservoirs, tanks. For pumping contaminated water, ie sewage, contaminated water pumps with a grating are used, which only allow impurities up to a certain size to pass through.

Flow

  • To 2000 litres / hour. - Sufficient for watering the garden, etc.
  • 2 000-3 000 litres / hour. - Also suitable for supplying smaller households.
  • Over 3000 litres / hour. - Suitable for supplying a normal household.

Material

  • Plastic - cheaper, suitable for use in the garden, such as pumping water from wells, rivers, etc.
  • Cast iron, stainless steel, etc. - Robust pumps, these are suitable for pumping wastewater or for a 24-hour supply to households.

Useful functions and features

  • Filters, which prevent impurities from entering the pump, such as leaves or grass.
  • Cutting tool for grinding of coarse impurities.
