Ice Hockey Sticks

When choosing a hockey stick, the most important factors are its length and curve type. Hockey sticks are made mainly of wood, fiberglass, or composite. The properties are almost identical, but the fiberglass sticks have the advantage that they allow you add an extension to it if needed.

Stick length

Determining the appropriate stick length is relatively easy:

  • With skates on - the stick should come up to your chin
  • Without skates - the stick should come up to your nose

Curve type

How do you hold your hockey stick?

  • Right (R) - your right hand is on the bottom end of the stick
  • Left (L) - your left hand is on the bottom end of the stick
  • Straight - suitable for small children, who switch their hands often
