Gaming Chairs

Gaming chairs encourage healthy sitting posture, which is something any hardcore gamer will no doubt appreciate. They have a number of different features; you can choose from various types of mechanisms, upholstery materials, base designs, and lumbar supports. If it all sounds rather confusing to you, don't worry — we have a number of practical tips to get you started.

What is dynamic seating and what makes it so important?

If you spend a lot of time at the computer, your gaming chair should be able to adapt to the way your body moves and sits — this is called dynamic seating. The chair actively exercises your core muscles, helps you avoid the typically stiff posture and back strain, and eliminates the pressure on your tailbone.

What mechanism type do you need?

The key parameter when choosing a gaming seat is the type of mechanism. The more time you spend gaming, the more adjustability and ergonomics you need.

  1. Synchronous tilt mechanism is a perfect dynamic seating solution, suitable for everyday use. The gaming chair automatically reclines back and forth to match the position of your back, adjusting the seat pan and backrest in sync.
  2. Asynchronous tilt mechanism lets you adjust the inclination of the backrest and seat pan using levers independently of each other, which allows you to choose between sitting in a rocking chair and a classic office chair. If you game a few hours every day, this is a right mechanism for you.
  3. Rocking mechanism gaming chairs are mainly designed for relaxation interspersed with occasional gaming. Neither the seat pan nor the backrest angle are adjustable, so they are not suitable for long everyday sitting.

Tilt and multi-lock mechanism are all some variation of the rocking type. Tilt mechanism gaming chairs allow you to lock/unlock the rocking function, while the multi-lock system also enables you to lock the chair in a reclined position.

Gaming chair upholstery - style or practicality?

  • Leather tends to make the best impression and looks very stylish, but it is not particularly comfortable in hot summer months.
  • Mesh fabric upholstery provides great ventilation, but in winter you may not appreciate the occasional draft on your back.
  • Polyurethane is a combination of PVC and PU and it is both highly breathable and durable.

Gaming chair base material — does it really matter?

The base is the key component of any gaming chair, supporting both the gas lift cylinder and the castor wheels. A standard plastic base is the most affordable variant. For heavier people or frequent use, we recommend choosing a more durable material like aluminium.

Why does your gaming chair need a good lumbar support?

The crucial component supports your body in the lumbar region and allows for a healthier sitting position by adapting to the shape of your back and replicating the natural position of the body.

Maximum gaming chair weight capacity

When choosing an office chair, pay close attention to the maximum weight capacity as specified by the manufacturer and do not exceed it. In fact, the weight capacity should be at least slightly higher than your weight. This prevents unnecessary wear and tear and ensures proper functioning of the chair.
