Nippers

Nippers are tools designed for “nipping” wires and plastics or for pulling nails. You can find standard, bolt cutters and cutting pliers and nippers. The details vary depending on their use. Nippers can be small, side-cutting and front-cutting. Read on for some tips how to choose the right ones.

What to focus on when choosing nippers

  • Handle - plastic anti-slip surface ensures proper grip and better work safety.
  • Blade material - try finding pliers made of induction hardened cutting steel if you want sharp and clean-cutting blades.
  • Blades - must be sharp and fit together with minimum clearance. This is necessary if you want precise and sharp cuts.

Nippers can be divided into:

  • Standard nippers - designed for cutting soft and hard wires. Very popular among electricians and fitters. There are also special nippers designed specifically for electricians. These nippers have electrical isolation and can withstand voltages up to 1000 V.
  • Cutting pliers - are sturdier and more durable than standard nippers. They have a differently offset joint to make cutting easier. Can easily cut thick and strong wires, such as hardened steel spring wires.
  • Bolt cutters - typical for their remarkably high cutting performance with minimum effort. Excellent if you need to cut a rod, wire rope, steel sheet 7-9 mm thick, or even a rebar. Ideal for building and construction.
