Timelessness

Twelve Hours to Change the Fate of Gods and Mortals

Timelessness. Twelve hours during which the world changes beyond recognition and gods walk among humans. Twelve hours during which they lose their immortality and can fall victim to anyone. In 1932 Czechoslovakia, the priestess Dorota finds herself at the centre of events that could change the fate of all humanity. A hundred years later, Meda travels back in time to prevent a deadly pandemic. But the past hides secrets that could destroy the future.

In the midst of Timelessness, a game of life and death unfolds, affecting the fates of generations. A game where the destinies of gods and mortals intertwine, and where every decision has its consequences.

Kristýna Sněgoňová

Kristýna Sněgoňová

*1986. A young writer who appeared out of nowhere a few years ago, only to start winning genre competitions with ease and collecting one award after another. She is a multiple winner of the Lady Řádu fantasy and the Nositelka meče awards, a winner of the Karel Čapek Prize, and a holder of the Mlok award, as well as competitions such as Vidoucí and others. Her literary career began by winning the O brahmíní vemeno competition with the short story Zrůdy by měly držet spolu (2009). After a creative break during which she focused on sports, she wrote countless short stories and novellas, because winning the 'vemeno' (udder) award comes with obligations. To the delight of her family from the Vault of Mad Brahmins, she also wrote a short story that became the basis for Krev pro rusalku (Blood for the Rusalka) – it was called Krvavý kožíšek (The Bloody Fur Coat) and at the time only caused general disappointment that it wasn't a teen romance about losing one's virginity. Her works can be found in many anthologies. She first appeared in Pevnost magazine as the winner of the Vidoucí competition with the short story Zadostiučinění (Satisfaction) (Pevnost 03/2015). In 2017, she repeated this success with the short stories O snílcích a snovačích (Of Dreamers and Schemers) (Pevnost 03/2017) and Sobotní směna (Saturday Shift) (Pevnost 12/2017). Her short stories continue to appear regularly in anthologies, whether in the trilogy of anthologies Ve stínu Říše (In the Shadow of the Empire) (2017), Ve stínu apokalypsy (In the Shadow of the Apocalypse) (2018), Ve stínu magie (In the Shadow of Magic) (2019), or in many other anthologies such as Lockdown (2021), Krásky a vetřelci: Pulp stories (Beauties and Intruders: Pulp Stories) (2021), Zákon genu (The Law of the Gene) (2022), and Proměny Kafkovy Prahy (Transformations of Kafka's Prague) (2024). Along with Lukáš Vavrečka, she is the editor of the anthology Hlubiny města (Depths of the City) (2023). However, Kristýna didn't stop at just writing short stories. After the successful novel Krev pro rusalku (2018), which was reprinted in 2021, she ventured into Brno with the fantasy novel Zřídla (The Founts) (2019). This was followed by the sci-fi series Města (Cities) – an original post-apocalyptic world where people tried to save civilisation in elevated cities, protected from a danger its inhabitants had long since forgotten. This series consists of the novels Město v oblacích (City in the Clouds) (2020, 2023), Země v troskách (Land in Ruins) (2021, 2024), and Svět v bouři (World in the Storm) (2022). In 2024, she returned to her first novelistic world, the world of fairies, blood, and old magic, with the title Krev pro divoženku (Blood for the Wild Woman). Since 2020, she has been co-writing the popular space opera Legie (Legion) with František Kotleta, about a group of people who defied alien dominance and oppression. Within this series, she has authored the following instalments: Amanda, Šprti a frajeři (Nerds and Cool Guys), Pán hor (Lord of the Mountains), Mrtvá schránka (Dead Drop), Na konci vesmíru (At the End of the Universe), and Mirská ruleta (Mirran Roulette).
