František Vorel
He was born in Prague, where he lived until graduating from the Faculty of General Medicine of Charles University. He joined the then Regional Hospital in České Budějovice as a secondary student in the department of forensic medicine. He became the Chief Medical Officer in 1997. On the basis of his internship experience at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Geneva, he managed to build the first forensic genetics laboratory in the Czech Republic. He has been a member of the Committee of the Society of Medical Law of the Czech Academy of Sciences (2015-2023), the Working Group for the determination of drug mortality at the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (since 2015. 2001), the Forensic Medicine Branch Council of the Scientific Council of the Czech Medical Association (1993-2018), and briefly the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Health (2004). He has been a member of the Accreditation Commission for Forensic Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic since. 2010, member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (since 2012), deputy editor-in-chief of the journal Forensic Medicine, member of the editorial board of Folia Societatis Medicinae Legalis Slovacaem, member of the advisory board of the MS for expert questions in the field of health care sector of forensic medicine and expert consultant of the National Register of Autopsies and Toxicological Examinations in Forensic Medicine. He is an Honorary Member of the Society of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Toxicology of the Czech Academy of Medical Sciences and an Honorary Member of the Czech Medical Society of the Czech Academy of Medical Sciences.He received the Honorary Medal of the Czech Academy of Medical Sciences and the Medal of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for outstanding teaching activities. He has prepared over 10,000 expert reports in the field of health care, forensic medicine, mostly for law enforcement agencies. He has ceased activity in this sector. He now provides expert opinions in the field of compensation for non-material personal injury, which he has prepared for over 400 private individuals and courts in civil and criminal proceedings.
