How to Send a Copy of Your ID Document

We recommend that you black out the following details in the copy of your ID you send:

  • gender
  • nationality
  • marital status
  • the authority that issued the document
  • machine‑readable data (the unique combination of characters, numbers and letters at the bottom on the back of the ID card)

The following details on your identity document must always remain clearly visible:

  • photograph
  • first name
  • surname
  • birth number
  • date of birth
  • signature
  • document number
  • document validity
  • security features
