43" Thomson 43UG4S15

The Thomson 43UG4S15 television offers a 43" LED screen with 4K Ultra HD resolution and the Google TV operating system. This interface unifies content from your subscription services and organises it into personalised recommendations for easier searching. You get access to over 400,000 films and TV shows, with the picture enhanced by support for high dynamic range HDR10 and HLG. You can use the Google Assistant for voice control, and the integrated Chromecast handles streaming from mobile devices.

Picture properties

Content is displayed on a 109cm (43") panel with a 4K Ultra HD resolution of 3840 × 2160. The LED screen uses Direct LED backlighting for even brightness distribution across the entire surface. The panel operates with a native refresh rate of 50/60Hz and supports HDR10 and HLG high dynamic range standards. Because the 10-bit colour depth displays a billion shades, colour transitions are smoother. The ARM CA55 image processor is assisted by features such as dynamic noise reduction and adaptive deinterlacing. An anti-reflective surface finish reduces unwanted glare.

Sound system

The audio is delivered by two integrated speakers with a total output of 16W. The television processes Dolby Audio for clear dialogue and DTS Digital Surround for a more spacious sound experience. One of the HDMI ports supports the enhanced audio return channel (eARC), which transmits uncompressed audio tracks to compatible soundbars or home cinema systems. An equaliser is available for manual sound adjustment. The system also includes an automatic volume levelling function, which prevents sudden fluctuations in sound intensity.

Smart Google TV interface

The Google TV operating system unifies content from various streaming apps into a single, clear, and personalised interface. The system recommends films and shows based on your preferences. Global apps such as Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ and Apple TV are available. The integrated Google Assistant is used for searching content or controlling your smart home with voice commands. The built-in Chromecast simplifies wireless content sharing from mobile phones and tablets directly to the screen. 2GB of RAM ensures the system runs smoothly.

Game mode

For smoother gaming, the television has a game mode. Activating the GAME MODE function optimises image processing and reduces input lag for faster responses to commands from your game controller. Although the television operates at a base refresh rate of 60Hz, it has two HDMI 2.1 standard ports. These ports support gaming on modern consoles in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. This combination is ideal for gamers who prefer high resolution and smooth gameplay.

Connectivity

The connector array includes a total of four HDMI ports, two of which support the 2.1 standard and two the 2.0 standard. There are also three USB ports for playing media from external drives, a LAN connector for a wired internet connection, and an optical audio output. The television signal is received by a triple DVB-T2/C/S2 tuner with HEVC codec support. Wireless connectivity is provided by dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and Bluetooth 5.1 for connecting headphones or soundbars. There is also a CI+ slot for decoder cards.

Design and mounting

The television stands on two side feet, which provide a stable base with a span of 790mm. The overall dimensions with the stand are 957 × 591 × 172mm. If wall-mounted, the television body measures 957 × 556 × 85mm and weighs 6.3kg. For mounting, it supports the VESA standard with a hole spacing of 200×200mm. The package includes an ergonomic remote control with backlit buttons, which makes it easier to operate the television in a dark environment without having to turn on the main lights.

Energy consumption

The television falls into energy class F in both standard dynamic range (SDR) mode and when displaying high dynamic range (HDR) content. The electricity consumption in SDR mode is 50kWh per 1000 hours of operation. When watching HDR content, the consumption increases slightly to 51kWh for the same time period. In standby mode, the power consumption is 0.5W, while in network standby mode, when the television is connected to the internet, the consumption is 2W.
