A wide range for family events and a distinctive zoom for trips
The Canon EOS R100 twin-lens kit is a compact mirrorless camera designed for everyday photography and shooting family moments, travel and everyday events. It uses a high-resolution APS-C format sensor and fast DIGIC 8 processor to deliver detailed images, smooth sequences and high-quality video. It adds reliable autofocus with person tracking and handy wireless features for quick sharing.

The APS-C format sensor helps achieve a greater depth of field and more natural background blur than conventional phones. The larger sensor area also supports better light handling when shooting indoors or in the evening. The DIGIC 8 processor ensures swift data processing and smooth operation. The result is detailed photos that are well suited for printing or cropping.

The Dual Pixel CMOS AF system can quickly focus and hold the selected subject in both still and video shooting. Face + Tracking mode with eye detection intuitively prioritizes the person in the frame and helps with sharp portraits. The focus coverage is wide, so composition is not limited to the centre of the frame. When shooting in 4K, the focusing behaviour differs from Full HD, so it is advisable to consider the type of scenes and movement.

The Canon EOS R100 handles smooth continuous shooting, which comes in handy with children, animals or sports. It offers a wide range of shutter speeds up to 1/4000 sec for freezing motion and creative exposure work. Exposure metering is done directly by the sensor in multiple modes, so you can better control behavior in difficult lighting conditions. Exposure compensation and bracketing are also available for more confident selection of the best shot.

The Canon EOS R100 can shoot in both 4K and Full HD at higher frame rates. For smoother handheld shots, it uses Digital Video Stabilisation (Movie Digital IS)which helps to suppress minor shocks. When using lenses with IS stabilisation, you can get more confident results especially when walking and at longer focal lengths. The built-in stereo microphone is handy for casual recording, with the option to connect an external microphone.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are used to connect to your phone for image transfer and remote functions depending on the app used. The Canon EOS R100 is lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry on longer trips. The battery is designed as an LP-E17 rechargeable battery and the camera offers power saving modes to extend the battery life. SD cards are used for storage, making it easy to access and swap between devices.

The OLED electronic viewfinder provides a stable view and helps you compose even outdoors in the sun. The rear LCD has a 3.0" screen size and high resolution to control detail and sharpness. Controls are complemented by customizable buttons that can speed up work in common modes. There are also handy beginner modes to make the transition from mobile to camera easier.

Universal assembly without the need for additional investment
The set combines two lenses that together cover most situations from casual snapshots to distant close-ups. The entry-level RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM is a lightweight and compact zoom for everyday shooting and video, plus optical stabilisation for more confident handheld shooting. The RF 75-300mm F4-5.6 Telescope adds long reach for sports, nature or transport where you can't get close to the subject. Thanks to the EOS R100's APS-C sensor, both lenses behave "longer" when converted to full frame, which is especially advantageous with a telephoto lens. In practice, it's easy to switch between a wide shot for family events and a strong zoom on the playground or on a trip. Both lenses use the RF bayonet, so swapping is quick and compatibility fits naturally into the EOS R system. The result is a universal setup without the need for immediate additional investment.

The Canon RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens is designed for EOS R APS-C bodies and works in practice as a lightweight "everyday zoom". It offers optical stabilisation with up to 4 EV, which helps when shooting handheld, especially in low light. Thanks to the STM motor, focusing is smooth and quiet, which is useful for video and casual indoor shooting. The lens is compact and weighs approximately 130g, making it an ideal starter choice for every day.

The 75-300mm Telescope is designed for situations where you need to get distant objects "closer" without having to get close. On an APS-C sensor body, it's roughly equivalent to 120-480mm EQ, making it practical for sports, wildlife and traffic observation. It can focus from 1.5m and offers a maximum magnification of up to 0.25x at 300mm, which helps with detail at the longer end. The design is portable (approx. 507 g) and thanks to the 7lamel aperture it can also handle pleasant background blur for portraits at longer focal lengths.

The RF-S 18-45mm is best left mounted as a prime lens for most of the day, as it will cover common scenes and is compact. The RF 75-300mm is for when you need to zoom in - typically sporting events, animals or distant details in the landscape. With longer focal lengths, it's worth keeping an eye out for shorter shutter speeds, as even a little shake is more visible. This way you can get the most out of your set without having to think about which lens you "need"..

Canon's latest mirrorless camera, the EOS R100, is incredibly small, lightweight and not much bigger than the former compact cameras of the cine film days. The body of the camera is available in a single, i.e. black colour version and at first glance it resembles the aforementioned predecessor Canon EOS R50, but it has several differences compared to it. On the one hand, the new product is a bit smaller and lighter, but the differences are not too big and can be described as cosmetic. However, for the record, the camera body itself weighs 356 grams, including the battery and memory card. The dimensions are 116 × 86 × 69 mm, which is really very small for a mirrorless camera and the device is almost pocketable. Read the full review here.
