Exciting and compelling, District 49 tells the story of Baltimore firefighter Jack Morrison (JOAQUIN PHOENIX), who goes from inexperienced rookie to seasoned firefighter. He often relies on the support of his mentor and boss, Mike Kennedy (JOHN TRAVOLTA), and his second family - the other firefighters, who are held together by an almost fraternal bond - for his arduous and risky job, which, despite his best efforts, often causes him to neglect his wife and children. But when he finds himself trapped in the middle of the most horrific fire of his career, his life and the things he considers essential in it - family, dignity, courage - suddenly become more important than ever. While his friends from the fire department try to do everything they can to save him, Jack's life hangs in the balance.
