Oddsockeaters are little creatures who live alongside us humans and are responsible for us always being left with just one odd sock from every pair. That’s because they eat socks! The fates of the main Oddsockeater protagonists and their greatest adversary, the eccentric and lonely PROFESSOR, are woven together by the story of the main hero, a little ODDSOCKEATER named Hihlík, who has some big adventures ahead of him in the film. The days of his grandfather Lamor, who raised him, are numbered, and Hihlík must overcome his fear, climb out of the window, and set off to find his Uncle Padre, whom he never knew existed. He draws courage from what his grandfather instilled in him – love for his family, a good upbringing, and the Oddsockeater's 'ten commandments'. Even in his new thieving home with his gangster uncle and two mischievous cousins, he doesn't abandon his ideals and principles. This is despite the fact that they lead him into dangerous situations. When he finally, with a heavy heart, breaks two fundamental Oddsockeater rules – 'Never take a whole pair' and 'Stick with humans, but keep your distance' – it's only because he believes he has exhausted all other options to reach his cherished goal: a family.
With a bit of exaggeration, you could say the film's message is: Family is everything! Stick with the one you have, love them, and do everything you can to make it a good one, because you won't get another one in this world. And it doesn't matter if you're a human or an ODDSOCKEATER.
An animated family adventure film about the joys and sorrows of sock thieves – the ODDSOCKEATERS – and their coexistence with us humans. Based on the bestseller by author Pavel Šrut and artist Galina Miklínová.
