Do you remember the medical film series that started in the 1990s with How the World Loses Poets?
In the similarly humorous book From Blonde to Dentist by Hedvika Kaplánová, you will read, among other things, how much medical studies have (not) changed in the twenty-first century and, as a bonus, you will learn about the specifics of the field of dentistry. And also what it' s like to build your own practice as a young mother, and why dentists don' t have time for expensive vacations and shopping for luxury handbags, as you might expect.

Hedvika Kaplánová (*1994, born Švehlová) is a dentist born in Příbram. From 2014 to 2019, she studied dentistry at the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. She has been writing a blog about her medical studies since her first year, and later began to popularize dentistry on social media and in educational programs at schools. She is often sought out by the media to provide expert commentary for the general public. After a one-year maternity leave, she founded her own dental practice in 2020, where she also employs several colleagues. She tries to show that motherhood and career are not mutually exclusive. She is a mother of two small children.
