Homecoming

The culmination of the dramatic Nordic trilogy that captivated Sweden

Jana Kippo leaves Smalanger to attend the opening of her exhibition in Stockholm. There, her past catches up with her again, but new opportunities also open up. Perhaps this means a chance for a dignified life. With love and art, without John, her brother, Diana, and the others calling from the north. But home and family are too deeply rooted in her, and the past has a disturbing tendency to repeat itself. Will Jana succeed in finding her place in the world and freeing herself from her paralysing traumas?

The conclusion of a gripping trilogy, acclaimed by both readers and critics for its literary quality. This family drama tells a story of hidden traumas, struggles with addiction, and the longing to belong. Through the fate of the Kippo family, described with raw tenderness and a unique linguistic style, the author reveals cruel human motivations in all their painful nakedness. In doing so, she breaks not only the rules of grammar.

The entire trilogy – We Went Up to Mother (Vi for upp med mor, 2019) and Then I Went Home (Sen for jag hem, 2020) – is acclaimed by both readers and critics for its literary quality. The family drama tells a story of hidden traumas, struggles with addiction, and the longing to belong. Through the fate of the Kippo family, described with raw tenderness and a unique linguistic style, the author reveals cruel human motivations in all their painful nakedness.
