Lieutenant Tomáš Volf and his colleague Eva Černá solve their first case together A dead girl found on a housing estate on the outskirts of a heat-torn city. It was supposed to be a routine case, during which the rookie Tomas Volf would get into crime scene work. However, together with her equally inexperienced partner Eva Cerna, she quickly discovers that this challenge will be much more difficult. A killer walks among blocks of apartment buildings, attacking his victims in broad daylight, with no leads. She earns the nickname "The Fridge" from the press. Tomáš knows that he has to exert all his strength to succeed in his new role. In the process, she has to deal with a headstrong colleague and her superiors and survive the hellish July heat. The České Budějovice native is one of the most outstanding Czech detective writers. His debut Na kopci (On the Hill) won the 2014 Jiří Marek Award for the best Czech detective novel. The book was published after ten years in a revised reissue. Březina repeated his success in 2020 with Flare from the detective series with police officer Tomáš Volf, which also includes the books Promlčení, Polednice, Mizení and Nalezení. He is also the author of the children's story Night Sun and the book The Swan and the Hunter, which combines his love of prehistory, myth and nature.
