“Who would have thought that a heartless killing machine would face so many moral dilemmas?” A heartless killing machine, known to readers of this sci-fi series as Murderbot, once again dives into a whirlwind of adventure and dangerous situations. As so many times before, it will once again tread the line between indifference to its surroundings and a growing sense of justice and responsibility. Will the constant conflict with humans tire Murderbot and lead it to complete apathy, or will it persevere in its search for evidence against those responsible for the deaths of innocent people, and prove that humanity can be lost just as easily as it can be gained? Martha Wells masterfully uncovers the mysterious corners of the robot's soul and offers a glimpse into the thought processes of someone who wants nothing to do with people, yet succumbs to such common human expressions as anger, compassion, sympathy and, above all, a healthy dose of irony.
Martha Wells has written a number of fantasy novels, short stories, and non-fiction books.
