Lost Hills
The first volume of the Lost Hills series, subtitled Massacre in the Hills, brings the cases of Los Angeles detective Eve Ronin from the pen of American novelist and screenwriter Lee Goldberg. His books, which include the series about the quirky investigator Adrian Monk, have been on the New York Times Bestseller list several times!
A video of Sheriff's Deputy Eve Ronin arresting an aggressive movie star becomes a viral hit and makes her an overnight hero. The sheriff, desperate for favorable PR, appoints Eve the youngest female detective in the history of the homicide department. But her colleagues eat up her patronizing promotion at every turn and she has to prove she deserves the badge.
She gets her chance when she and her partner are called to a house full of blood where a family with two children lived. The gruesome scene suggests it was a murder - but there are no bodies at the scene. Eve must rely on her instincts and tenacity to find the victims and catch the ruthless killer. All this while battling his own doubts, mounting neighborhood pressure, and flames spreading across the California hills.
She's about to face a trial by fire that will either confirm she has what it takes to be a detective - or break her completely.
