Why is mom cursing
A humorous novel for all exasperated mums
Mum's marriage is in crisis, the children have gone completely feral, and the house looks like a bomb has hit it. Only the dog remains her ever-faithful companion.
As if that wasn't enough, Mum has found a new challenge in life – a job at a brand-new start-up full of young, promising people. This brings, among other things, the worry of whether, at forty-two, she can get up from a beanbag with the required dignity, and if she can get away with wearing trousers that resemble jogging bottoms to work. In this new environment, she has also somehow (accidentally) introduced herself as a single party queen who doesn't have to rush home to her children, and now she has no idea how to get out of it without making a complete fool of herself…
Can Mum maintain the illusion of independence at work while keeping her family running? And will she still find time for the occasional gin and tonic?
Probably not.
Gill Sims
Gill Sims is the author of the famous and exceptionally successful blog and Facebook page, Peter and Jane. She lives in Scotland with her husband, two children, and two Border Terriers, because one Border Terrier clearly wasn't enough trouble. Her interests include (besides drinking wine) spending time on social media, searching for her lost youth, and looking for one of the dogs when it decides to go on one of its regular solo wanderings, all while trying to stop the other dog from eating any old filth. Her debut, Why Mummy Drinks, became a number one The Sunday Times bestseller in 2017 and was nominated for the British Book Awards Debut Novel of the Year. The subsequent books in the series, Why Mummy Swears, Why Mummy's Sloshed, and Why Mummy's STILL Sloshed also made it onto The Sunday Times bestseller list.
