How to choose a POWERbreathe trainer
Type
Mechanical - resistance is adjusted mechanically (by setting the load on the lower part of the POWERbreathe device). This type tends to be cheaper.
Electronic - resistance is set on the display. This type generally offers a number of different training modes and settings. More expensive compared to mechanical models.
Load levels
High load (29-274 cmH2O) - suitable for professional athletes.
Medium load (23-186 cmH2O) - for everyday use.
Low load (17-98 cmH2O) - for adolescents, women, and people with respiratory conditions.
cmH2O values (centimetres of water column) indicate maximal inspiratory pressure.
