Game of Thrones

Winter is coming!

The first part of a thrilling historical fantasy set in a dark medieval world, torn apart by magic, intrigue, betrayal, and prophecies. An exciting cult story of hypocrisy and betrayal, nobility and honour, conquest and triumph. The land of the Seven Kingdoms, born in forgotten times, is rocked by a bloody struggle.

At the centre of the conflict are the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and resilient as the land from which they hail. The Warden of the North, Lord Stark, is summoned to serve as the King's Hand, but his departure for the Iron Throne sets off a chain of events that will soon affect the scheming south, the wild eastern lands, and the icy north bordered by the ancient Wall. The fate of the Starks, their allies, and their enemies hangs increasingly in the balance as each of them strives for victory in the most deadly conflict of all – the game of thrones.

There are not many stories that can influence their era and become a phenomenon, that transcend generations, human differences, and national borders, and create a veritable nation of their fans. If you think for a moment about which book (and later film or TV) saga has the power to unite readers into a single mass eagerly awaiting each new instalment, titles like Harry Potter, Twilight, or The Lord of the Rings will surely come to mind… And the latest, A Game of Thrones, will certainly be among them.

In its short life, G. R. R. Martin's monumental saga has earned the hallmark of a classic and has become one of the pillars of modern fantasy fiction. Since its debut in 1996, Martin's fantasy series has smashed bestseller lists, been heard in more than 30 languages, and became the basis for the hugely successful HBO series. Now, it finally gets its audio version and an honourable place among the titles published by Tympanum.
