Jodisol solution is a highly effective disinfectant. It is a three percent alcohol solution of a complex compound (iodophor) with a wide range of uses. It has a large range of effect on the multiplying forms of microorganisms, i.e. bacteria, fungi and viruses. The iodine bound in the complex is released in a concentration that is sufficient to disinfect but does not damage the skin or mucous membranes. Full action occurs in 1-5 minutes after application. It permanently kills the growth of pathogenic microorganisms on the skin and mucous membranes.
It is applied to the affected area either directly (e.g. using a cotton swab), or it can be used in a solution diluted with water in a ratio of up to 1:20. Dilute aqueous solutions are suitable for poultices, washing, rinsing, gargling, etc. Usually 2 times a day unless otherwise directed by a physician.
The product must not be used in case of known hypersensitivity to the drug or excipient. Only after consulting a doctor, the preparation is used in children under six months, in thyroid disorders, kidney disorders, pregnant women and expectant mothers.
If there is no demonstrable healing within 3 days, consult a physician. The dilute solution is coloured yellow-brown. If the solution changes colour (to a lighter shade) e.g. by exposure to direct light, it loses its effectiveness. Do not use internally.
Store at 10-25 °C. Do not expose to direct sunlight.
