Bowie David: Tonight - LP
Bowie David: Tonight - LP
The 2018 box set Loving The Alien summed up Bowie's creative period from 1983-88. The individual components of the box are now available separately. Released very shortly after the hugely successful Let's Dance, Tonight was intended to retain the interest of new listeners who had discovered him through his previous hits Let's Dance and China Girl. The album features several songs that Bowie co-wrote with Iggy Pop for his albums, including the title track, which he cut as a duet with Tina Turner. It includes a cover version of the famous song God Only Knows by The Beach Boys. Although the album was commercially successful, topping the UK album chart and going platinum, it was rather panned by critics. Which was a big disappointment for Bowie, which he mentioned several times in the following years.
One of the greatest personalities of world music, a renowned musical chameleon and a pioneer of several musical movements. During his lifetime, this British artist released twenty-five albums, many of which have become part of the golden fund of popular music and influenced several generations of musicians from several musical genres. David Bowie released his last album, Black Star, on 8 January 2016, on his sixty-ninth birthday and just two days before his death.
