Robert T. Kiyosaki (born 8 April 1947, USA) is an American businessman and author. After graduating from high school, Robert Toru Kiyosaki attended the Merchant Marine Academy in New York, where he also graduated. He then joined the Marine Corps and went to Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and officer. After returning from the war, he began his business career working as a salesman for Xerox copiers. His first independent venture was founding a company that was the first to market a Velcro and nylon wallet for surfers. Despite initial success, the company went bankrupt. His next business venture was the production of licensed wallets with the logos of heavy metal bands (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc.). This company also went bankrupt, so he tried again, this time establishing the successful international company, Rich Dad Company, Inc. This company sells educational products and books on the theme of "how to get rich". Another business activity he is involved in is real estate.
