Endometriosis
E-book, Czech
Endometriosis
A separate chapter summarizes the current knowledge on the epidemiology and risk factors of endometriosis. The authors also discuss in detail the pathophysiological mechanisms of pain associated with endometriosis and immunological aspects of endometriosis.
Another part of the book is devoted to the pathomorphology of endometriosis. Because of the oncological context, the issue of atypical endometriosis is highlighted. It is a,, mysterious“ a subset of endometriosis, which is considered to be precursors of endometriosis-associated tumours.
A large part of the book deals with the clinical aspects of endometriosis. In separate chapters, the diagnosis and treatment strategies, current trends in conservative treatment of endometriosis and, last but not least, the surgical principles of the treatment of this disease with a focus on deep infiltrating endometriosis in individual anatomical sites are clearly described. The book also mentions the ENZIAN classification and the SEF and EEL certification systems for Central European endometriosis treatment centres.
The book concludes with a detailed description of the sexological and psychological-psychiatric aspects of endometriosis.
The book will be of particular interest to gynaecologists and sexologists, but also other expertise, like pathologists, oncologists, surgeons, algeziologists, doctors from reproductive medicine centers, general practitioners, but also scientists working on endometriosis at the basic or applied research level.
