English Garden

This is what death looks like. Or hell.

We are rarely willing to admit that our existence rests on very shaky foundations. It takes only a little, and everything we have believed up to now will come crashing down like a house of cards. In a small, quiet town, where neighbours greet each other respectfully and smile at each other, two ten-year-old boys disappear. A hunt is launched for the alleged perpetrator, and every moment someone else is in the crosshairs of the police and the neighbours. The community slowly begins to disintegrate, terrible secrets come to light, no one can be sure in front of others. But what really happened? The story is told by one of the disappeared boys, whose childlike innocence takes the reader through the darkest recesses of the human conscience, gradually destroying the only remaining solace: Something like this could not happen here. Wrong! It's already happened. The story is loosely inspired by real events that took place in 2006 in the Italian town of Gravina in Puglia.

Petra Klabouchová

Petra Klabouchová comes from the South Bohemian town of Husinec, where it has always been favourable to revolutionary ideas. After studying journalism and psychology at Masaryk University in Brno, she began to write. She developed her literary talent as a manager of rock bands while travelling in Europe and the USA. She captured those wild and loud years in her book, Full Ball. Her literary repertoire also includes the entertaining and child-friendly Vampire Tales, a look into the 1980s The Last Cuban Oranges, an excursion into the legacy of ancient Egypt The Fraud of the Golden Pharaoh, and the psychological crime thriller The English Garden. She drew the most attention to herself with her detective story Prameny Vltavy / The Springs of the Vltava River, about evil springing from the depths of the writer's native region. He also talks about a crime shrouded in decades of silence in his book At the Northern Wall.
