Jaroslav Malý was the last person in Czechoslovakia to receive the death penalty – and also one of the few whose sentence was never carried out. His story is one of brutal crimes, a cynical attitude towards life and his victims, and ultimately a pardon in the form of the social upheaval of 1989. This gripping true crime story uncovers a dark chapter in Czechoslovakian criminology and follows the fate of a man who briefly escaped justice – but could not escape his destiny in the end.
