John Elton: Lockdown Sessions (2x LP) - LP
In March 2020, Elton John was forced to suspend his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. But all bad things are good for something, and so began the creation of one of the most interesting and daring albums by the British sir. As the world was closing in, the singer began meeting young artists through his Apple Music Rocket Hour show, and the outlines of a new album began to take shape. The Lockdown Sessions is a project that has been developed remotely over the last eighteen months, and will see the light of day on October 22nd. Artists like Charlie Puth will appear on the collection, Dua Lipa, Gorillaz, Lil Nas X, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj and many others.
"Recording the album was probably the last thing on my mind during the lockdown. But as the pandemic continued, one-off projects kept popping up. Sometimes we recorded via Zoom, which I had never done before, sometimes in person, but under very strict hygienic conditions. But all the songs I worked on were really interesting and varied and were completely different from anything I'm known for. They took me out of my comfort zone and into a whole new territory," Elton John praises the creation of the collection.
