Charles IV. Revolt of the Dukes

Matouš Rozoumek, once a courtier of John of Luxembourg, stumbles upon the traces of a planned revolt of the dukes aimed at deposing Charles IV. from the throne of the ruler of the Holy Roman Empire. The conspirators are aided by the crop failure and the resulting famine, as well as by Charles's private problems - the death of his first-born son, his second wife and his untreated injuries. Matthew's son, the commander of the king's personal retinue, also finds his life complicated when he discovers that Barbara has been unfaithful to him. How will the two Karls cope in difficult situations? Will the king find a way to break the unity of the conspirators without having to intervene militarily against them? Jaromír Jindra was born on 29 October 1949 in České Budějovice. After graduating from high school, he became editor of a regional daily newspaper and later deputy editor-in-chief of the (now defunct) weekly Nový život. He returned to beautiful literature only at the end of the 20th century. Recently, he has published historical novels from Czech history, Spiklenci z lásky, Dreams die with kings, War of the Queens, Poison for kings, The blind king's fight, Charles IV. and the Crown of the Kings of Rome, Captive of the Fates - Edward Kelley's Daughter and Captive of the Fates - Horoscope for Wallenstein and Charles IV. - Shadows of the past.
