Kashtanek

A gripping thriller from the author of the Danish hit series Crime

On a chilly autumn day, police find the body of a young woman in the suburbs of Copenhagen. Someone brutally murdered her and cut off one of her arms. Above the victim hangs a doll made of chestnuts.

A young and ambitious investigator, Naia Thulin, takes on the case. His partner is a burnt-out colleague, Mark Hess, who has just been fired from Europol headquarters in The Hague and sent back to Copenhagen. They soon discover that the chestnut doll bears the trace of a missing girl, whom everyone believes was murdered a year ago: is the daughter of Rosa Hartung, Minister of Social Affairs. The case has long been solved and the perpetrator has confessed to the murder.

Shortly afterwards, however, another victim is found and with her another chestnut figurine with a trace of the dead girl. Thulin and Hess are looking for links between the case of the minister's daughter, the murdered women and a killer who is succeeding in spreading fear across the country. They're playing for time. They fear that the perpetrator has embarked on a murderous mission that is far from over for him.
