Prague's paranormal investigators are back! The team consisting of sociopath Felix, necrophiliac necromancer Walter, depressive telepath Claudia and indestructible alcoholic Vincent is about to take on another case. It requires them to travel to a small, but certainly not picturesque town that keeps out of the way of all the action. The local cemetery is the final resting place of the magiographer Nightingale, with whom this hilarious foursome needs to talk in order to gain valuable information against the Seven, a group of the most powerful wizards in the world. And if it doesn't go well, maybe it will go badly. But man thinks and life changes, so instead of planning, good old improvisation comes into play...
Another supernatural task for the group around Felix Jonáš from the pen of a popular author who brought a fresh wind to Czech fantasy. And even now Jiří Pavlovský does not spare action and humour!

Pavlovsky returns to the world of The Sorcerer's Hammer, and for the second time it is a phenomenal ride that will not let you breathe for a moment!
- Strength

The book is atypical, new, fresh, comic and well-paced. Action alternates with reaction by jumping into the next action.
- Gaming Professors

With City of the Dead, Pavlovsky confirmed that the Hammer of the Witches series is worth watching and that the hype of the first episode was definitely not just a funny coincidence. Felix Jonáš's team is only setting itself up for two more problems by not solving one.
- Sabina Dudová, Fantasya

(* 1968) Czech genre writer, publicist, translator and publisher in one person. He belongs to the literary group Rigor Mortis, which in the 1990s brought fresh elements inspired by Western cynicism and domestic incorrectness to Czech fantasy. His stories have won numerous genre awards (Karel Čapek Award, SFFH Academy Award), but he is best known to fans as the spiritual father of the original urban fantasy The Sorcerer's Hammer. The story of four antiheroes who fight with the magical scum of Prague was conceived as a shared world, the backdrop of which was expanded by six more authors in twelve volumes - the first series was completed in 2017 and the series was enriched by the novel Blind Hunt in 2024. In addition to writing, Pavlovský runs the Krakatit and Arkham bookstores, the Crew comic book publishing house, and is a guest on the podcast Red Harvest with his literary colleague Štěpán Kopřiva, where he discusses his favourite detective stories and thrillers.
