Blood on the tracks

The audiobook Blood on the Tracks, by J. R. Ellis. Read by Filip Jančík, directed by Ondřej Černý. Yorkshire Murder Mysteries #8 NO ONE GOT ON OR OFF, AND YET SOMEONE MURDERED HIM… Daniel Hayward, the star of the film Take Courage, is shot in a train carriage during filming on the Wharfedale heritage railway. DCI Oldroyd is called in to investigate the case, bringing his girlfriend Deborah along in the belief that they will enjoy the beauty of the English countryside together in their spare time. Oldroyd immediately starts his investigation, and the more he delves into Hayward's past, the more jilted lovers and unpaid debts he finds. But before he can catch the killer, he must first figure out how this seemingly perfect crime – which could have been lifted straight from an Agatha Christie novel – was committed. Whoever the perpetrator is, they are determined to bury the truth deep. It's not long before Oldroyd receives his first chilling warning. It becomes perfectly clear to the DCI that his beloved Deborah is in danger… J. R. ELLIS J. R. Ellis comes from a working-class family, but that didn't stop him from graduating from Oxford University and becoming a teacher. He has always been interested in mysteries, the supernatural, and unsolved crimes. During his teaching years, he wrote children's plays and ghost stories. However, it was only in retirement that he began to devote himself fully to writing. His Yorkshire Murder Mysteries series is inextricably linked to the county where Ellis lives. He was inspired by the detective stories of Agatha Christie and John Dickson Carr in the style of locked-room mysteries, and also the TV series Jonathan Creek. He believes that for detective novels, it's not just who committed the crime that's important, but also how they did it. Although he writes about murders, he avoids overly brutal scenes, preferring to emphasise a light style, elements of humour, and a well-thought-out plot.  FILIP JANČÍK He started out as an actor but decided to devote himself fully to voice-over work. That's why we can only see him in a few films or series. As a young actor, he starred in films such as Zada hlavolamu and Vekslák aneb staré zlaté časy. In contrast, Filip Jančík's voice is immediately noticeable, for example on the TV station Prima Cool or in an impressive number of Hollywood films and series.
