All is lost. Sometimes even the biggest bruisers have to hit rock bottom before they can rise again. But that's not what's on Captain Moravec's and Lieutenant Vojcechovsky's minds right now. They have other worries. The space mafia – and the life of a long-lost friend. The cosmic poultry want to settle old scores, and the Red Sparrow has a plan. It wouldn't be the world of the Legion if things didn't get complicated. But perhaps it's always darkest just before the dawn.
The Legion series is nearing its finale, and its heroes must put their affairs in order and prepare for the final battle. Whatever its outcome may be.
A somewhat mysterious woman, a young writer who appeared out of nowhere a few years ago, only to start winning genre competitions with ease and conquering one award after another. She is a multiple Lady of the Order of Fantasy and a Sword Bearer, the winner of the Karel Čapek Prize and a recipient of the Mlok, as well as competitions like Vidoucí and others. She began her literary career by winning the 'O brahmíní vemeno' (For a Brahmin's Udder) competition with her short story 'Zrůdy by měly držet spolu' (Monsters Should Stick Together) (2009). After a creative break during which she dedicated herself to sports, she wrote countless short stories and novellas, because winning the Udder is a commitment. For the delight of her family from the Vault of the Mad Brahmin, she also wrote a short story that became the basis for 'Krev pro rusalku' (Blood for a Rusalka) – it was called 'Krvavý kožíšek' (The Bloody Fur Coat) and at the time only caused general disappointment that it wasn't a romance novel for girls about losing one's virginity. Her works can be found in many anthologies. She first appeared in Pevnost magazine as the winner of the Vidoucí competition with the short story 'Zadostiučinění' (Satisfaction) (Pevnost 03/2015), and repeated this in 2017 with the short stories 'O snílcích a snovačích' (Of Dreamers and Schemers) (Pevnost 03/2017) and 'Sobotní směna' (Saturday Shift) (Pevnost 12/2017). Her short stories have been appearing more and more regularly in anthologies, such as 'Ve stínu Říše' (In the Shadow of the Empire) (2017), where she amazed and terrified readers with the story 'Na vlastní kůži' (Firsthand), and in the loose sequel to the anthology 'Ve stínu apokalypsy' (In the Shadow of the Apocalypse) (2018). However, Kristýna did not stop at writing short stories. After the successful novel 'Krev pro rusalku' (Blood for a Rusalka) (2018), which also saw a second edition in 2021, she headed to Brno with the fantasy novel 'Zřídla' (The Springs) (2019). This was followed by the sci-fi series Města (Cities), which so far includes the novels 'Město v oblacích' (City in the Clouds) (2020) and 'Země v troskách' (Earth in Ruins) (2021). Last but not least, she also contributed to the anthologies 'Lockdown' (2021), 'Krásky a vetřelci: Pulp stories' (Beauties and Aliens: Pulp Stories) (2021), and 'Zákon genu' (The Law of the Gene) (2022). Since 2020, she has been working with František Kotleta on the Legion sci-fi series, a space opera as dark, action-packed, and entertaining as cold space will allow.
A native of Bruntál, a writer, the Mowgli of the Jeseníky Mountains, and a butcher, but above all, one of the most successful authors not only in speculative fiction but in Czech literature in general. He is the author of the 'Bratrstvo krve' (Brotherhood of Blood) trilogy, the novels 'Vlci' (Wolves), 'Lovci' (Hunters), 'Příliš dlouhá swingers party' (A Swinger's Party That Went on for Too Long), 'Velké problémy v Malém Vietnamu' (Big Trouble in Little Vietnam), the 'Perunova krev' (Perun's Blood) duology, and the 'Spad' (Fallout) tetralogy: 'Poločas rozpadu' (Half-Life), 'Rázová vlna' (Shockwave), and 'Řetězová reakce' (Chain Reaction). His titles smash the bestseller charts with a mix of action, one-liners, violence, thrilling plot, and sex. You won't be thinking here; you'll be having fun. Due to high demand, all his books are regularly reprinted, and many are also available in audio format.
